Now is the time to look ahead, past the framework of the old law, and ensure that consumers are protected and are not shut out of the assistance programs that would help them afford utilities.

“There’s things we can do to require utilities to do more to get customers enrolled in those programs early so that they don’t end up spiraling into a pit of debt,” said Joline Price, Divisional Supervising Attorney of CLS’s Energy Unit.

SB 154 does little to protect vulnerable, low & moderate-income households from the threat of utility termination. Many people qualified for customer assistance programs are not even aware they are eligible.

Senate moves to reinstate utility cutoff protections for Pennsylvanians but disputes remain • Pennsylvania Capital-Star
State senators began work this week to reenact a law that barred utility companies from cutting off service to customers in the winter, regardless of their ability to pay.

Consumer Advocate Patrick Cicero worked tirelessly against the sale of our public utilities to private companies. His model of service is what Pennsylvanians need and deserve from their Advocate. I hope his successor will show the same commitment.

Remember when Thanksgiving Day newspapers weighed 10 pounds, were full of advertising circulars, sometimes were delivered in two parts, and Trump was just a reality show con man.

Life was so much better then.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard “we didn’t cause poverty so we shouldn’t be forced to solve it” from a utility or industrial customer…

Not to mention, y’all kinda do cause it!

Such an important reminder: “Conversely, those who do not wish to see millions of people leave the United States under coercion during a second Trump administration should do what they can to prevent that reality.”

this is one of the big problems with issue polling. if you see that immigration concerns poll highly among republican voters, it’s easy to think “that’s why they’re drawn to the GOP,” but it’s often the other way around: they feel that way because the GOP establishment tells them to

I just. I don’t even know where to start. First, this is horrific and terrifying. But also: Is there an exemption for kids? Regardless of identity, plenty of kids using the “wrong” bathroom when with their parents.
Nancy Mace has introduced a federal bathroom ban which would ban trans people from bathrooms in DCA and Dulles airports, national park bathrooms, museum bathrooms, and all federal building bathrooms.

This is what terrifies me. We need strong opposition leadership if we have a hope of surviving a Trump presidency. The Democrats are obviously in the best position to do it, but if they won’t, who will?

This is a very strong set of data to add to all the other reasons this election should not cause Democrats to throw vulnerable people, human rights & essential issues by the wayside
Mandate? Trump is now under 50% in the popular vote with his margin ranking 44th out of 51 elections since 1824.

4 Democrats won Senate seats in states Trump carried—compared to zero in 16 and 20.

GOP poised for its smallest House majority since the U.S. had 50 states.

Solving the energy crisis requires solving the housing crisis. In one of my rental properties 2 winters ago all the pipes froze and destroyed the kitchen. Insurance wouldn't cover the pipe replacements, but they paid to put new drywall up. 😓 We need public disaster insurance w/equitable protection.
Many climate advocates are rightly distraught at the loss of federal policy opportunities after the election. The home insurance system is fatally flawed. As climate disasters intensify, it's becoming dangerously clear this system cannot protect us. We need a new model entirely — one focused on safeguarding p...
