3 Ohio’s crisis is a microcosm of a nationwide collapse: over 3,200 U.S. print papers have shut since 2005, & nearly 55 million Americans live with minimal local news access—threatening democracy across the country.

It’s time to treat local journalism as a public good—before it vanishes entirely.

2/3 This isn’t just about fewer headlines—it’s about less accountability. Research shows when local news deserts emerge, corruption rises, bond ratings worsen, and public spending grows.

Civic engagement suffers too: fewer voters, fewer candidates, more polarization.

🧵 Imagine living in a county without reporters—no one covering school board meetings, local clinics, even zoning decisions.

That’s reality for over 1,000 U.S. counties. Ohio now has just 7.9 local journalists per 100k residents down from ~40 in 2002.

We knew local journalism was shrinking in Ohio and elsewhere. It's worse than we thought • Ohio Capital Journal
It's hardly news that local news coverage in Ohio's cities and towns isn't what it once was. A new analysis shows that it's been devastated in most small towns, suburbs and cities in the United States...

just smashing the "Americans actually hate the realities of mass deportation and we should be hitting R's on it, not running away from it" button again and again
Pollster: Take a look at Trump's net approval rating on immigration. A lot of focus on Gallup at -27. That's horrible. Quinnipiac University, -16. That's awful. Marist is bad at -9. Fox at -7. Bad to just downright terrible. The American people have turned against Trump on what was his best issue

Audrey Hepburn looked thoughtful as I did up her seatbelt to go to the vet and I should have known.

She was STUDYING the mechanism, opened it and slammed into my seat when I braked.

She has also learned to open door locks, door handles etc because she hates limitations.

Trump is not sure if he is obligated to uphold the Constitution.

The presidential oath clearly states this obligation: The president must “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.”

When are the MAGA Republicans going to grow a spine and join the Democrats to impeach and oust this traitor?

You may not know about this bill yet, but you should.

The JUDGES Act would hand Trump 22 new judicial appointments, and some Democrats in Congress are feeling pressure to vote yes on it to lighten the caseload of judges in their states. A few Democrats have even co-sponsored it.

Hey, since the administration wants people to report antiChristian activities within the departments,…can’t everyone start reporting all the admin’s antiChristian activities?!? Like; the corruption, the hate, the lies, the illegal/unconstitutional activities, etc, etc..?

Sounds like an unconstitutional poll tax to me. Peoplewho have trouble putting food on the table and paying monthly expenses, certainly can’t afford to go out and get a passport. Do they really think that those without passports sit around planning international travel just in case?
