*We should do*, my brain for reason can't spot errors until after I post a reply.

We should need to do through running. Start ordering the M8s instead of the M9s while we are at it.

Pleasure working with you all! Let's get through running over the finish line!

Democrats: *get the most high-info, engaged base in American history*

Also democrats: "these rubes will never see through my cunning ploy to have my best friend vote for the bill I've been negotiating while I quietly feign impotence! Maybe he can even vote for the MTP but against formal passage..."

Hey, if Cuomo keeps this up, and we might be able to get our DINO senators out of office by him splitting the ever so declining moderate vote and paving the way for AOC, and another lefty to the US Senate.

Same here, but when the Purple Line turns around, it then merges in front of the SB Red Line there.

Given the Purple Line also cut in front of NB Red Line when the reverse to Linden, my guess is that it is easier to time. Instead of factoring two tracks of traffic, the CTA does one track at a time.

Another issue with Howard is that it was designed for through service, but used as a terminal.

When the express is running, the Purple and Red/Yellow don't merge. Purple stays on outer, Red/Yellow stays on inner.

But when it's not, Purple have to switch to inner, Red has to switch to outer.

Fair point.

Operational ceiling is 30 tph. I don't see any sharp curves on the State St Subway that would cut capacity. Maybe some slow zone removal would help.

And at the end of the day, adding Purple Line through the subway still adds a substantial amount capacity, no matter which way you try to square it.
November 8, 2025 at 12:09 AM
It is still a major capacity increase at the end of the day. Running all 20 tph as 8 car trains, plus 10 tph as 6 car trains is still a 38 percent increase in capacity. That is good for the next 30-40 years if I am being honest.
November 8, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Also, with the Belmont Flyover, which the CTA projects that they could add 6-9 tph per track, that would be enough to take all Purple Line trains during rush, which is around 8 tph.
November 7, 2025 at 11:23 PM
The CTA never ran the State St Subway to its full capacity, the most they ever did was something like 20 tph during 2019. It is either there were problems at Clark Interlocking or pandemic era cuts.

Adding the Purple Line to the subway will increase capacity well over what the Red Line saw in 2019.

Wished Ben Chou won instead of Paladino. But I think Ben Chou has good political talent that should not go to waste.

Mamdani faced millions of dollars of attack ads while Trump and his goons endorsed the nepo baby sex pest. So, Sliwa's votes declined and Cuomo's votes increased.

Not that it mattered when the majority of polls didn't have Mamdani winning a majority. And he is on track to do so.
