The Senate’s Byrd Bath is underway. Key #Medicaid provisions under review include provider tax caps, work requirements, retroactive coverage limits, and new SSN rules. Each could be removed by the parliamentarian. Rulings expected next week. The bill includes over $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts 😱

Ohio would lose far more than it saves by ending #Medicaid expansion. Just $116M in net savings vs. $42B in lost federal funds, 435K more uninsured, and over $1.1B in lost tax revenue. The real state cost? Health, jobs, and economic stability www.healthpolicyohio.org/our-work/pub...

The 2 day drop in the U.S. stock market is among the largest in history. Over Thursday and Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 3,700 points. This 2 day decline is surpassed only by the combined percentage losses during the 1929 crash.

Republican lawmakers circulating idea to require Ohio and other states to pay portion of SNAP food benefit costs for the first time; this could cost Ohio anywhere from $158 to $790 million a year if benefits were maintained at the current level (the avg. daily benefit per person today is $6.31)

As policymakers debate significant reductions to #Medicaid and #SNAP that are envisioned in the House GOP budget resolution, I have been wondering about the broader economic impact on Cuyahoga County. www.linkedin.com/posts/johnrc...

One fact that escaped me last week was that during the budget resolution debate, Senate Republicans passed their budget resolution on a party-line vote. Not a single Republican senator supported an amendment to protect the SNAP program from cuts, the most successful federal anti-hunger program.

🚨The Senate and House have passed different budgets; the next step is for them to agree on the same one. Next step for us, illustrate what these proposed cuts mean to children, the elderly, veterans and persons w/ disabilities
