The claim that “emissions have come down” in this @nytimes.com @sominisengupta.bsky.social article on where we are ten years post-Paris is FALSE.

Global emissions were at an all-time high in 2024.

As it stands this claim is misinformation. They need to issue a correction!

🧵 My eulogy to Dick Cheney as a biologist who’s been deeply involved for 15 yrs in efforts to ban fracking around the world:

More than any other person Dick Cheney is responsible for the veil of secrecy and lies that surround fracking operations, and they are enshrined into law that he created. 1/

This is so incredible, I won’t be breathing until the last vote is counted.
A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.

This is nauseating.

I saw this on a friend's time line, and I want to say:

All good and meaningful analogies have their limit, a place where they break down. The breaking point of this analogy is, I believe, well worthy of attention.🧵

This is HUGE

A court has ruled that TotalEnergies has misled consumers by presenting itself as a “major player in the energy transition”.

It is the first judgement in the world ruling an Oil & Gas major has misled the public by greenwashing its image.

Until people in the climate movement very publicly stop eating meat and flying, we're not going to seem trustworthy.

I will die on this hill.
Meat is a blind spot for people who care about climate. When I used to have dinner with my colleague Wally Broecker, the climate scientist who coined the term “global warming”, he would always order a steak.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
