A Red-Crowned Amazon I encountered this morning. These parrots have been established in the area since the 1960s, but are not native to California and are endangered in their native range in Mexico.

This California Scrub Jay is one of a pair that used to frequently visit me in the yard. I assume they were nesting somewhere in the canyon. Beautiful birds, and entertaining to watch.

This Cooper's Hawk, perched in a pepper tree in one of San Diego's many canyons, was a fun one to follow and photograph.

One of my favorites from my early photography work, this is Chippewa Creek in the Brecksville Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks, shot on 35mm film with a Pentax K-1000. This place played a pivotal role in my childhood, and this photo is still one of my all-time favorites, even 25 years later.
