“I Am John Mayer (Single Version)” is streaming now: song.link/iamjohnmayer! Try before you buy, then pre-order the album: www.thehereafterishere.com! The single version is only the first half of the song so listening to it is like stopping Forrest Gump after he meets Jenny in our nation’s capital.♥️

I hung up posters like it’s the 90s for the 1st (annual?) SF SecretFest at La Promenade Cafe in the Outer Richmond on Balboa. All ages! FREE (with suggested donation of $1-$100). 5-7pm this Saturday, July 19th. They have food and drinks there, including the kind with alcohol. 🏆♥️

Hardened fare gates are bad

Clipper reader for only elevator at Embarcadero is broken, so there are no accessible entrances at BART's busiest station

Instead of opening the gates here and risking tiny loss of fare, BART chose to completely close the elevator over one broken payment device 😡

A network of these, connected, in every American city.
A location in Paris with three kinds of streets

The intersection of Rue du Colonel Moll and Rue des Colonels Renard in the 17th arrondissement illustrates the evolution of streets in Paris: 1) the unchanged parking street, 2) the street with widened sidewalks (and reduced parking), and 3) the "school street" model (albeit with no trees here).

my takeaway from reading 150 years worth of historical transit and planning documents is that the solutions have been known the entire time and studies are just a way for people who don't want change to waste time

I don’t know. People are starting to realize that there are a ton of zero-occupant vehicles on the streets making traffic worse.

Not wanting that is a pretty universal sentiment among folks who don’t agree on much
I took Waymo a few times when I was in SF for work last month and was surprised at how *positive* the city’s vibes about it were. Small sample size, obviously, but even pretty tech-skeptical friends were like: No, they’re great, they’re quiet and much safer for cyclists/pedestrians.
Don't look now but Waymo's had 708,000 paid driverless rides in California in March. Data: @californiapuc.bsky.social

The escalation is real.
Ride a bike they said, it'll be fun they said! Kidding, we embrace and celebrate the radicalization.

If only the anti-bike lane folks would take a ride in our shoes, we're certain their perspectives would change. It's the humanity of it.

🚨 New Data Analysis: San Francisco's Slow Streets have reduced vehicle crashes by 61% over the past 2 years compared to a 5% increase citywide AND they've had a trivial impact on emergency response times, despite the fire department vehemently opposing them.

Rage, grief, helplessness. Friends in LA have lost everything. I love that city and my heart is broken. The fossil fuel companies are liable and must be held accountable. They knew. We all must change our behavior. While this current round of devastation is upon us, please be safe and kind. ♥️
