The startup my friend and I founded once sponsored a naked mole rat at the Smithsonian National Zoo, but I forgot to tell my business partner. He asked, "John, why is the Smithsonian sending us pictures of an old man's penis?"

One of the things I love most about Nova is her overly dramatic demands for belly rubs. She will throw herself on the floor at my feet (or on my feet) and wail, because that belly ain't gonna rub itself.

One of my serial hobbies is selling digital designs for laser-cut wooden boxes and gaming accessories on Etsy. Every once in a while, I'm struck with the dubious idea of selling the physical products too.

So far, I've resisted that urge.
