The skills are there, the stodge can be shaken off. I think the current England squad have the potential to beat anyone... but I'm not making any predictions.

That's a big call. A Scottish win would be good for the game, I hope you are right. Ireland will beat Australia.

The excitement is not good for my Parkinson's, so I tell myself it's just a game, the result is not important, I just want to watch good rugby. This does not of course work. Here's to a victorious northern hemisphere. And good rugby.

We left about 3:15 but we could have all been there for some time and missed each other among all those little rooms.

Thanks for the offer! You are right - in principle, I have the tools, but in practise my GIS and R skills have atrophied. I think I like the idea more than the reality. Maybe one day I will be curious enough to do the hard hours. It is aways nice to watch you and others at the art/science interface.

The fungus often feeds on trees already weak. Your rowan sounds to be in sturdy middle life and able to deal with a little more of life's diversity. I speak as an ecologist, an arborist may take a different view. May the berries bring you fieldfares and redwings this autumn. And keep witches away.

Probably shaggy scalycap, Pholiota squarrosa, but it does have similar relatives.
