I am a ecologist that focusses on understand how spatial pattern and landscape formation, as generated by the interplay between organisms and their environment, affects ecosystem functioning. My group combines modelling and empirical approaches.
A year ago the "Wemeldinge 1150 AD" project was launched. It aims to reveal how people were living in a Zeeuwse village in 1150, on a climate-proof, all natural salt marsh, on which a 1.5 meter dyke provides sufficient safety (for these days). See the link: www.zeeuwsetijdreis.nl/wemeldinge/
