I don’t doubt she was deeply affected by AIDS—her district was devastated + she wasn’t a f-ing ghoul. But she was also a strong voice against Chinese human rights violations. And put those things together (with others) as a story of how San Francisco politics work.

My patients need me to know their complexity, listen to their histories and understand their priorities. They need time to negotiate a collaborative path instead of me just telling them what to do. I will not cut my visit times down. I will bill for time. Thanks

Blue Cross plans to target doctors for overcharging. Physicians are furious. - The Boston Globe
The move has angered some doctors, particularly those who often see older, medically complicated patients in need of more care and time. The insurer says it's crucial to tame costs.

That flag is good on its own but is clearly most especially a primary race subtweet / subskeet. Heard, Ed.
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) at the Boston No Kings rally today, wore the trans pride flag like a scarf draped over his shoulders and included in his speech. "Because here in Massachusetts, we stand for what is right. We stand with trans people because trans rights are human rights."

It is hard to top Orwell’s Why I Write but on a first brisk and excited reading, I think Zadie Smith may have just done it.

I’m sorry but I think folks can often be too harsh with Sarah. 95 Ds voted YES bc of leadership, why single her out so often?

She got elected statewide in Delaware. Her path is challenging and this time is terrifying. I think the disagreements w/ her can be less personal. I care about her safety.

It feels like every thoughtful or nuanced thing I might try to say about policy just sounds dumb next to this level of hatred

I’m going to try anyway

but this has been sitting in my stomach ever since I made myself watch it

deleting the rest of this thread because there is a pundit in my heart but on reflection he doesn’t need to come out in public

hat tip @brendanlittle.bsky.social for highlighting this article elsewhere, also correction that the IF comes much farther down than the tenth paragraph
Lede: “forced treatment is good, actually”—tenth paragraph “IF it’s funded better than it ever has been or ever will be” which is the health policy equivalent of saying “I’d have a ham sandwich if I had ham. And some bread.”

And we gotta mention, there were NO HOMICIDES IN JULY! That hasn’t happened in over 60 years! We love to see it.

My thread three months ago re Trump’s exec order last week—predictably awful. #medsky #drugsky #planningsky
Here’s the playbook:
Step 1. Demand that cities find homeless people with recurrent and visible symptoms of psychosis or intoxication, and force them to accept mandatory “treatment.” Step 2. Defund all treatment. Step 3. Blame them for “not wanting to change” and blame mayors for being “weak”. /1 🧵

not gonna lie, Bondi’s campy vibe makes me want to always say “metha-amphetamine” from now on; but for killjoys keeping score, methamphetamine in pill form is Desoxyn and it is regulated as a Schedule II substance by the DEA which is part of DOJ
