ICE batteries last 3 year at peak performance - they then become increasingly unreliable for starting. You may get 5 years if you do not do many short journeys. The average UK mileage is only 19 per day.

You tell me, you seem to be into conspiracies.

Hybrid more expensive all round. They have had their day.

UK average mileage is 19 per day. Easily charged at home once a week overnight.
November 29, 2025 at 12:22 AM
That is the British way.

Most are charged at home. The average UK mileage is only 19 per day.

UK personal savings have reached £2.2 trillion. Not spread evenly, unfortunately, but most of these savings is only earning 2% interest on average. They can afford to throw money away.

It is not confusing in the slightest.

They are not bulldozing rain forests for minerals. All mining harms the environment, and EVs are economically far more beneficial.

Charge is 3p per mile. How charging is done is out for discussion.

In the third quarter of 2025, 80,614 used battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were purchased in the UK. This represented a 44.4% year-on-year increase.

Battery life on an EV is at least 10 years. People wrongly think they are like ordinary car batteries, which last 3 years. Second hand EVs are a real bargain.

UK used to have two major computer manufacturers and the Sinclair C5 EV. They gave these up as "they would never catch on". TBF we are now a very negative nation.

Claims are correct for average users. The average user only does 19 miles a day.

In a few years time, many of the petrol stations will be closing down as uneconomic to run for a reduced custom. Then ICE cars have the range and refuel problem.

His genius is that he actually gets on and makes thing happen, from Paypal to Tesla. None of these are his inventions. Only qualifications are bachelor's degrees in physics and economics from the University of Pennsylvania

Even with the extra 3p per mile tax, my EV will cost next to nothing to run on electricity from my solar panels. I try not to fund fossil fuel companies. who fund corrupt politicians.

By the road mile driven. There are various options. The simplest is to estimate mileage for the year, then get a refund or bill if mileage differs at the end of the year.

The UK media agenda is to do down anything that is progressive. They have no interest in ever putting figures fairly into context.
November 28, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Media greatly exaggerated the issue. 1.4 million EVs on UK roads. 232 fires represents a tiny 0.0165% of the total fleet—less than 0.02%. Fewer than 2 in every 10,000 electric vehicles have caught fire. In 2024 there were 18,423 vehicle fires across all vehicle types. EV just 1.25% of that figure.

The average UK car usage is 19 miles a day. Can top up overnight if facilities.

It is sad that half the country cannot even do the simplest of maths to compare things. EV will also not pay vehicle road licence
November 28, 2025 at 11:40 PM
The proposed rules are very simple and will be further consulted upon. It will still be cheaper to run an EV and will pay less road duty.
