I think it was Ray Bradbury who said, “Touch the manuscript every day.”

I believe in this, even if it’s only for 20 minutes. Stay in it.

The red sun rose over wide fields and long haul trucks navigated the road as I listened to Josh Brolin’s memoir on audio.

“Parents are the bones we (kids) cut our teeth on, but they never talk about the parents’ own teeth.”

My next read is A LONESOME PLACE FOR MURDER, book 2 in the Ethan Brand series.

After a great book 1, I’m excited to see where Brand’s story goes!

I’m 150 pages into THE ROAD and thought I’d share one of my favourite passages so far.

When I was younger, I tried reading Blood Meridian twice but couldn’t get into it. I just started The Road, and I like it … I think. I am bound and determined to finish a book by CM!

Ferris and Miller discuss Miller’s style, as well as people and other art forms that inspired his work.

They even touch on Miller’s relationship with alcohol, and what role anger played and plays in his life.

Watched episode of 1 of TASK last night, an HBO show from Brad Ingelsby, the creator of MARE OF EASTDOWN.

It’s got the slow burn, great dialogue, down and out characters, and slickly filmed action I love.

Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelprey star.

On this episode of his podcast, That’s How I Remember It, Craig Finn of The Hold Steady talks with Matt Berninger, the frontman of The National.

Finn opens each episode by asking: “Do you consider yourself to be someone with a good memory?”

I’d heard of the band Youth of Today but didn’t know much about them, so when I stumbled into the audiobook, I gave it a listen.

I’m interested to see how frontman Ray Cappo went from the dive bars of 1980s New York City to a monk in India.

The first 100 pages of THE STRIP by Iain Ryan are incredible.

When a local doctor is brutally murdered, Detective Constable Lana Cohen joins a task force on the notorious Gold Coast of Australia, where she finds herself navigating a world of chaos and corruption.

I’m on S4 of THE BEAR and last night, while watching e4, I found myself thinking about Lip from SHAMELESS.

Carm and Lip are obviously different, but every once in a while I notice a look from Carm that’s right out of SHAMELESS.

Both great characters and shows.

New read: PRAIRIE EDGE is about Ezzy and Grey, both in their twenties and Metis, who ‘re-locate’ a herd of bison from Elk Island National Park to downtown Edmonton.

I’m 75 pages in and it’s excellent, but I’m not sure what to compare it to.

I am a fan of LOCK, STOCK and SNATCH, but Ritchie’s work since then has been hit and miss.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed THE COVENANT, especially the first half.

Dar Salim’s performance as an Afghani interpreter, Ahmed, was the highlight.
