Thanks! I got a message the other saying 15 yrs. Depends what part of production you measure from I guess. It would be good for me, since I don’t have any work right now. But I do not own the rights and I don’t think anyone else has any plans to get started making any more.

Brilliant to see lots of old and new folks at the United Agents illustrators showcase in Angel. Wish the news didn’t have such a deft way of eclipsing good small things.

It was the edition with the gorgeous Claudio Munoz drawings (whose daughters I totally coincidentally came to know years later).

My dad read me The Mouse and His Child when I was little. I remember loving it but I don’t remember noticing it was anywhere near so deep and sad and terrifying as I found it when I re-read it as an adult.

Thanks. I’m quite concerned for friends who are small scale instrument makers, too.

There’s one of the UK’s strongest folk scenes in Sheffield, but I miss the Oxford gang quite a bit.

Yes. The one I’ve settled on as my personal instrument is the last one I made. It’s a standard fiddle but has 4 sympathetic strings. The closest instrument that people have usually come across is the norwegian Hardanger fiddle.

Oh and the long narrow bodied thing in one image there is a Nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle). I didn’t build it but I rebuilt a lot of it. And I have considered making new ones.

I made a few violins and a viola with sympathetic strings (they’re fairly popular in Scandinavian folky circles). I’ve also made various banjo based things and I’m currently planning to learn to make guitar and mandolin bodied instruments.

Oh yeah I know it (I’m still in the WhatsApp group for the mooring).
