Merry Christmas! This is the beautiful card that my mum drew. Due to Norovirus and discovering my email hacked after a 6hr drive to get back up north for Christmas Day we’ve had a frazzling time. Here’s to a moment of calm.

Still sifting the archive for a thing later this week. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster tbh. Especially sifting through the really old stuff (not pictured) in the attic trying to find my 25yr old degree certificate (and failing).

Before the iPad app ProCreate brush engine got any good I made a brush set for Paintstorm Studio (excellent brush engine -glitchy app). You can still buy the set on Gumtree joelstewart.gumroad.com/l/IzTJm?layo... (but I don’t keep up with Paintstorm much and I’d recommend my ProCreate set instead).

The library records show me that kids and parents really go for this one when they get the chance, but for a variety of reasons it missed out on the marketing it needed to fly.

I had this thing at the time about using typewriter carbon for drawing. Some waffle about getting out of my own way (since you can’t see the finished line while doing it).

I personally can’t look too hard or long at the drawing in these very early books, but this cover worked well I think.

Another one from that collection of Hans Andersen tales. This ended up as the cover of one german edition and I always thought it worked really well.

I happen to be going through old illustration work for a thing just now. This is one for a lesser known Hans Christian Andersen story contained in the collection I illustrated perhaps 20 years ago. I didn’t realise the book was still in print but it appears to be!
