We are witnessing 'performance' not a cohesive world view, it's factless policy by anectdote—for perception only. Weaponized willful ignorance and stupidity are both shields and cudgels.

Thankfully, we have a completely sane, sober, and tech savvy bunch coming in to power in time for this. You know, real stand-up folks who hold the welfare of the country, and their oaths, first.

Probably the best way to get around Google trying to make you watch ads is products like AdGuard or PiHole. You literally just don't even allow them on your network.
Here is AdGuard running on my WD MyCloud NAS (installed via Entware) for about half a day. Swapped my Macbook, Windows, and iPad DNS.

Probably the best way to get around Google trying to make you watch ads is products like AdGuard or PiHole. You literally just don't even allow them on your network.
Here is AdGuard running on my WD MyCloud NAS (installed via Entware) for about half a day. Swapped my Macbook, Windows, and iPad DNS.
