A bellated halloween post!

This is a piece I made earlier this year, inspired by my appreciation for horror movies. As this genre is heavily outside my comfortzone it took some time to study the subject matter, but I am happy how this relatively small illustration turned out!
Every scene unfolds like a living classical painting, crafted with extraordinary attention to detail, composition, and mood. A hauntingly beautiful cinematic experience. An absolute must-see on the big screen!

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is by far the best film I’ve seen all year.
This masterful retelling of the classic story feels both timeless and ahead of its time, perfectly balancing innovation with a rich, old-world atmosphere. 1/2
Researching Akhenaten’s story and developing a mythological interpretation that fit the setting was a rewarding process. Blending history, symbolism, and imagination made this piece especially memorable to work on.

Art director: Gilles Plantin

Akhenaten, the Heretic Pharaoh

I painted this illustration for Monolith Board Games in 2023. It was part of a larger series of historical and mythological portraits I had the chance to create, a significant learning experience I am very grateful for.

Shamsiel, Archon of the Sun

The idea behind this painting was to depict a Watcher or fallen angel with an affinity for the sun. The moth symbolism reflects the angel’s desire to draw power from the light, even as it slowly leads to their own disintegration.

New Painting!

I found some time to work on this piece a while back while waiting for feedback and new assignments. As an exercise, I wanted to push my creative boundaries, letting myself play with shapes and spontaneity rather than relying too much on a plan.

Saxon warrior, painting from 2020 or so. History is always a topic that has fascinated me and that inspires me greatly in my personal work. I like to keep it grounded while adding my own designs / interpretations when I can. Always fun to push these creative boundaries!
-Everything about it feels ahead of its time, and it’s been such an inspiring experience over the past few months. Can’t wait to get back to Lumiere in the future!
Just finished Expedition 33 a little while ago, and wow, it didn’t take long for me to realise it’s become my favourite game in terms of story, concept, and worldbuilding. The music is the perfect cherry on top-

haha, denk het niet Zag ze alleen maar duurder worden per nieuwe editie.
Agreed! Apparently this Wulver is giving fish to the villagers at night as part of the folklore, which is a very unique take on the archetype!
Happy to share the new wraparound bottle design for Glen Scotia Whisky’s third edition of Icons of Campbeltown: The Legend of the Scottish Wulver!
It’s been a real pleasure collaborating with the Loch Lomond Group on these releases, and I can’t wait to try this latest edition!
Character portrait from some years ago, a design for my Bronze Age series I worked on at the time!
