Somehow, we're almost halfway through 2025 already! I'm taking the time to reflect on some of the work I've done this year so far, including:
🔹Developmental editing
🔹Copy-editing
🔹Localisation
🔹Content creation

Still space in the diary for more projects this year, so get in touch!

#amediting 'Framing' was the second book I've worked on with Mikael, a really vital and relevant study in light of the current trends in communication and rhetoric.

This event tomorrow will be well worth attending:
In his fascinating book 'Framing: The social art of influence', sociologist Mikael Klintman offers an incisive toolkit for exposing and analysing the rhetoric that saturates our everyday lives.

BLOG: This #Pride month, I'm sharing thoughts on how my #LGBTQ status plays into my work as an #editor.
I'm keen to work with more LGBTQ authors, particularly in non-fiction (memoirs, academic studies and more), to help raise the voices of our community.

A birthday gift from my husband last year, I come to the final unread entry tonight having been reading one a day. It's been inspiring learning about the heroes of our #lgbtq+ community and beyond 🌈📚 💙📚 #pridemonth #pride #amreading

Decided it was time for a spring clean of my website, so here it is with some fresh new colours and a carousel of book covers in the Work Portfolio section, which I hope will be more visually appealing than the increasingly unweildy text list!

#edibuddies, do you offer unsolicited writing tips to authors? Every so often, if I spot a recurring issue in the nuts and bolts of grammar and language usage, I'll point it out (in as friendly a manner as possible!), but often worry I'm overstepping the mark or appearing patronising! #amediting

They cite ‘never comes up with an unexpected idea’ as PLUS!! This explains so much about these people.

I like these Milan x Off White shirts but why are the players’ names in quotes. They are literally who they are, not someone pretending to be them.

Doing a search re: alternative terms for the outdated "Third World", I came across this interesting blog on why we should now avoid "developing countries"/"developing world" as well. Interested to hear how other #edibuddies & authors approach this

Time to stop referring to the “developing world”
The term “development” is frequently used to describe the process in which children mature and pick up skills in a sequential way. Using the same term to name countries can suggest some level of hiera...

Fantastic few days away on Robin Hood's old patch to refresh and recharge at the start of the year. Wonderful to be immersed in nature, literally and literarily, with this amazing bit of work by @edyong209.bsky.social. An immense world indeed 💙📚

When not editing other people's words, I occasionally scribble a few of my own.

I'm in the current issue of @wsc.co.uk, talking #RainbowLaces and #LGBTQ+ inclusion campaigns in football.

Sadly appropriate for the times, this was a fascinating project to work on as copy-editor, not least because I lived in Italy for a few years and still (just about!) have a working knowledge of the language. As I join BlueSky, I'm hoping to see less of such speech in action!

#amediting
Looking for a thought-provoking read? 'An Investigation of Hate Speech in Italian', edited by Cruschina & Gianollo, analyses #hatespeech from a #linguistic perspective. Most chapters in the volume address hate speech on #socialmedia.
