Nothing worse than when a trailer drops for a new movie that uses a similar premise to something you spent over a year writing.

maybe we’re all just living
in the carcass of a dream
that died a long time ago.

Every time I’m compelled to write a script in reaction to the world, I lose my way, because, I firmly believe that the more local I am in my writing, the more universal it becomes.

When my vision becomes too wide in scope, it loses its potency. And we can’t be having that in times like these.

I haven’t watched this much baseball since I was 14. We are most certainly in the end times.

Still absolutely firm in my belief that we’d be better off as a species if more people admitted and embraced that we have no fucking clue what we’re doing.

Spec is out in the world. People reading.
Everything out of my control. Feels good to let go.

Had a great time chatting ‘bout my path into screenwriting at Hamilton Film Festival with Hamilton Film Board this past weekend.

Being on a stage without violently loud amplifiers drowning out my voice was strange but still a good time. #screenwriting

Since I haven't done a #StoryDNA post for a hot minute, I figured in honor of INSATIOUS landing on this year's #DeadList2025, now was as good an excuse as any to get into 🧵

Because you are going to read this and have questions 😅

What happens when a 15-foot great white shark ends up in Walden Pond? Read SHARK IN THE POND to find out! Link below. This is the most fun I’ve ever had writing a script. Hope you enjoy! #scriptsky #filmsky #screenwriting
SHARK IN THE POND — The Stunt List
There’s a great white shark in Walden Pond, and four college students who want to save it clash with the authorities trying to put it down.

Dead List day is always a good day! Some wild loglines on here to sink your teeth into and, speaking of teeth--

Stoked to have something a little different on the Dead List this time around. My body horror short story, The Thing With Teeth, is available to read! #TheDeadList

On Saturday, I'm joining a panel at the local film fest to chat about my path into screenwriting and, with every second inching closer to it, my imposter syndrome grows larger and larger teeth.

Nothing like a quiet moment before bed
for my brain to give me ideas of
absolute nightmare fuel
for this new script.

May you live in interesting times.

Just another casual Sunday, contemplating if I should give up writing. Think I need to disappear for a minute and recalibrate.

Another day, another draft of a short story. Idk, man. Writing, without a plan, for the sake of letting the mind take over narrative control, just feels right. #writing

Long walk through Toronto today to make some pictures. I can’t believe I caught the first one.

What a thrill it is learning and experiencing joy through a new art form.

I can be pretty good at catastrophizing but I hear the sound of a vicious, echoing bell; one that shrieks of a future where Trump decides invading Canada is a good excuse to suspend all elections.
Q: "Upon peace, are you open to holding an election?"

Zelensky: "Yes, of course."

Trump: "So you are saying during the way you can't have elections...Three-and-a-half years from now, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? That's good."

This is where their "AI" stems from, btw. This is their attempt to turn the act of creation into an automated assembly line that punishes a person who does something they can't. They have two goals: to be liked, to be creative. Failing that, they made a blow-up doll to tell them they're good enough.
