Same as the old place. Geopolitics, maps, Africa & terrorism, DC sports/49ers, classic movies, booze & snark on the side. Air Force officer. @univofscranton alum. I’d rather be hiking.

This is blatantly illegal and dangerous beyond belief.

Our national security is in the hands of complete amateurs.

What other highly sensitive national security conversations are happening over group chat? Any other random people accidentally added to those, too?
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg. theatln.tc/IuULQFiY
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

When Trump's agency heads ripped into Musk inside the WH, what they really revealed is that DOGE is on the verge of unleashing governing catastrophes that they don't want to take the blame for.

On the pod, @katearonoff.bsky.social and I dig deep into this dynamic:

Musk Humiliated as Trump’s Own Advisers Brutally Expose DOGE Fiasco
As a new report shows that even Trump officials are infuriated by Elon Musk, the author of a new piece on DOGE’s impacts explains how this reveals a deep problem for Trump that isn’t going away.

Again, Democrats, this is how minority parties should react to corrupt regimes.

I know you won’t, but ya know, just sayin.

Vance is now backpedalling furiously, I see. Only the UK & France had proposed anything approaching scale of 20k troops, so I don't see how he would be referring to anyone else. But let's take smaller states, then. Denmark & Estonia took same casualties per capita as America in Afghanistan.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

In Middle East an event as such is an earthquake. As big as 1967 war, bigger than fall of Saddam or Gaddafi given centrality of Syria, of Assad house across region.

There will be a lot say. For now this is a moment for Syrians, only Syrians to take it in..plan a better future…
