My favorite two hours of my favorite day -- when the marathon has passed but the roads are still closed and you can cruise right down the middle of 4th avenue on foot or on bike. As it should be!

Kind of amazing that the photo Politico used of one of these folks -- the one who made a joke about gas chambers -- is from an event that Politico sponsored last summer.

On the whole, I think it’s a good thing that the idea of "selling out" has faded. But it’s still jarring to hear someone say so bluntly that the money was what allowed them to set aside their conscience.

As this scandal unfolds, just keep in mind how many times this point was completely ignored over the last decade of critiques about what goes on on college campuses.

I didn’t expect to find my motivation for the week in the lead column of my bean club’s quarterly newsletter. But here we are. “It’s tempting to throw in the towel. Hopefully it will be more tempting to make beans.” Genuinely moved by this.

Not much to add to the botched SEAL raid story, but it’s so funny to me when reporters have to include lines like this. I get why they do — but the answer is so obviously “it reminded Trump of action movies and he thought it would be cool to tweet about” and nothing more.
