As a follow on comics-relevant note from that thread from Tade, this is especially important when writing for comics. You'll probably spend a few years at the start of learning the form not reading comics as comics, but seeing what they do - like how when I was learning bass, songs were basslines.

Worth a watch:

Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

Some brilliant news for a Monday morning: Shane Meadows has quietly wrapped production on his first film in 17 years.

It's called Chork, has been filming on the East coast of England and Scotland, and has been co-written with Jack Thorne.

2026 cinema release.

If you still believe in the AI con - and I have met plenty of academics who do - please have a look at this. This is not something that can be fixed. It’s inherently part of how this so-called AI works. (That is, it doesn’t, at least when it really counts.)

Kinji Fukasaku‘s Message from Space is much maligned, but here are the protagonists trying to catch space fireflies. They move about by way of breaststrokes and they’re not wearing a protective suit and the composition of the frame is best described as maximalist. How could this be a bad film?
