Daisy, the Diesel Railcar, was enjoying life on the Island of Sodor. She had found life on Thomas' Branch Line peaceful, and often spent the afternoon dozing in the sun before her next train down the valley.

She would soon realize, however, that Thomas' Branch Line was anything but peaceful.

Howdy! I'm JobsOldBootlace, otherwise known as Bootlace. I'm a Sprite Artist/Hobbyist and general rambler who really, really should post more.
Duck stumbled over her words at the platform. "Erm, Pardon me, Miss, but I was, err, well, wondering, you see, if you could come visit my shed tonight -- It's not my shed, though! I mean, it's the shed we all stay at. Except for you. You're our visitor, of course. Silly me. It's just, we've all heard so much about you! I mean, who hasn't really you're like the Great Westerner and you're so pretty and stylish and we've all heard you're so fast and--" A profound wave of heat swept over her, her face turning redder than James' paintwork. "Not that I mean it like that!" She shouted. "I mean you're record, of course. The speed record. The record you set for your speed-I MEAN--" Duck gasped for breath. "WouldYouLikeToTalkToUsSodorEnginesAtTheShedTonight? She stammered. The Famous Visitor smiled. "I'd be delighted to... Duck, right?" "...you know my name?" Truro chuckled. "Good," he smiled, "We can stop for a rest and a drink for the night." "I still think this is a bad idea." Elsie grumbled. "I think it was a lovely idea," Henrietta retorted, "Bringing us both along to his new home." "You just wanted to keep yourself from being turned into a henhouse!" Henrietta scoffed. "That's an entirely different matter, Elsie dear. It's best that Toby makes a good impression with this, err, Sir Bottom Matt." "Sir Topham Hatt, love," the tram corrected, "Besides, he asked for us specifically. No need to fuss about trying to make ourselves look better than we are." "A good impression matters, Toby love. I don't think anyone on the Mainland would've wanted to bring you on if you still had that beard of yours." "I liked my beard! A-and we could hardly afford to keep up the maintenance for it. Why do you think we let Hannah grow that awful--" "Can we not talk about Hannah?!" screeched Elsie. The train went silent. "...sorry, Elsie." Toby said silently. "I... I guess I forgot about what happened with her." "No kidding. We're better off without her anyway." The train stayed quiet for some time, until at last, Henrietta spoke up. "Do you think he will let us stay, Toby? I know you got to know this Hatt fellow more than I did, but any other Controller would send us back on the Mainland." Toby's answer was cut off as a big green engine roared past, whistling a friendly "Hello!" to the tram engine and his train. Toby rang his bell in reply, but it seemed to be drowned out by the rake of coaches rocketing past them. Wind broke branches from trees, while rain turned hillside streams into torrents which threatened to wash the line away. Mr. Hugh and the workmen patrolled the line every day with Rusty. They removed branches and cleared culverts so that the water could flow away. But one morning they found bad trouble. A fresh torrent had broken out, and Mr. Hugh had to stop all trains. "There's been a 'wash-out' near the tunnel," he said.
