Using LDA, we decoded odor identity from EEG during the 6s delay.
✔️ BUT vs AIR: 5.4s of significant decoding
✔️ CAR vs AIR: 4.4s + late cluster
⏳ Odor neural states were maintained.

EEG showed that odors triggered sustained ERP activity, lasting seconds after odor offset.
❗Unpleasant odors (Butanol) led to stronger and longer responses.
This effect didn’t overlap with picture ERPs.

Participants smelled pleasant (Carvone) or unpleasant (Butanol) odors.
6s later, they saw a picture.
A day later: recognition test.
Unpleasant odors didn’t boost accuracy—but they _increased confidence_ in memory.

🧠👃 Can a _brief smell_ change how we remember something seconds later?

We used EEG + memory testing to show that odors trigger sustained brain activity—and shape memory for events happening after the smell disappears.
