We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.

“ICE gets a bigger budget than the Marine Corps” is a simple fact that should be communicated very widely because it clearly expresses how crazy and radical this is
With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

The Minnesota assassin appears to be a hate-filled right winger. So can we stop walking on eggshells about MAGA's legitimization of political violence?

Yes, Republicans have also been the target of inexcusable violence, but this isn't a "both sides" issue.

Trump's military parade will cost $25-45 Million dollars, while federal funding for science is slashed, public servants are fired, and life-saving programs are ended, presumably to save money. Got it. I'll be saying what I think about that at @indivisible.org #NoKingsDay tomorrow. #StandUpForScience

Addendum: Matt makes a great point.

The research cuts both ways on Vance's claim about immigration's impact on social cohesion. But there's really no doubt that Trump II's policies completely undermine it among the broader population.
Sending masked, unidentified armed agents to grab people off the street, in contrast, is great for social trust. Also taking away people’s health insurance, and suddenly firing civil servants illegally. Oh and not sending any relief to people hit by tornadoes: great for social trust

Racist and sexist roots in the cancellation of NSF grants under Trump:

Grants with female PIs canceled 2x more than men
Grants with Black PIs canceled 4x over White PIs
Grants with Hispanic PIs canceled 2x over White PIs
Grants with PIs with disabilities canceled 2x more than without
Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3

Instead of stating simply that this is illegal, this story walks through the entire process of turning a gifted plane into Air Force One, as if the thing readers need to know about a bank robbery is the ins and outs of how the thieves plan to launder the money.
Breaking News: President Trump plans to accept a luxury Boeing 747 from Qatar that he will use as Air Force One and will keep using after he leaves office. The plan — involving possibly the biggest foreign gift ever received by the U.S. government — raises substantial ethical issues.
