This is what happens when a company fixes optics instead of fixing the system. If Uber wanted to address the true human problem—rider + driver safety—they’d overhaul reporting workflows, run proactive safeguards, use real-time interventions, not bury the gaps in their UI.

Women drivers remain a fraction of the supply, so most rides will still default to status quo, leaving riders w/ the illusion of choice but not actual safety. Meanwhile, the feature doesn’t guarantee a match, + it simply “increases chances”—which avoids real accountability for when things go wrong.
