James Tynion IV is one of my favorite writers, and this book is so many things he's great at: complex and relatable characters, ensemble casts, and otherworldly horror. It's incredibly consistent in character, story and art across three years, a feat aided by the moving art from Dialynas and co.

You can tell Windsor-Smith has been working with this Hulk-meets-Operation Paperclip plot for a while, and it's definitely paid off. I'd recommend getting your hands on a physical copy of the prestige @fantagraphics.bsky.social packaging, this art deserves to be poured over.

Creator-Owned Comics Day 21: up today is something I'm currently reading through, MONSTERS by Barry Windsor-Smith (Weapon X, Lifedeath, Conan). Windsor-Smith is one of my favorite artists of all time, a true auteur who is given space to write and draw a devastatingly beautiful story here.
