I first read this as Vindaloo Island, and now I'm hungry.
Three Russian MiG-31 jets violated Estonian airspace near Vaindloo Island on 20 September, remaining for 12 minutes without a flight plan or radio contact, according to multiple Western media outlets. Estonia filed a protest note to the Russian embassy.

This is about 1 arrival per ~2,400 UK inhabitants. I grew up in a Yorkshire village of ~3,000, which is on the large size as villages go. So it's like, 1 person arriving per big village.

Nowadays I live in Czechia, which recently handled a refugee influx of 1 person per ~25 inhabitants.
🇬🇧 In London, about 110,000 protesters took to the streets for a large-scale protest against migration.

The anti-migration march was attended by British flags and slogans "Stop the boats", because this year alone 28,000 people arrived across the English Channel.

Germany & Japan surrendered. There were trials for war crimes were in Nuremberg & Tokyo. They confronted their history & became thriving, prosperous, free nations & American allies

Moscow never stood trial for its crimes in 20th century or this one. Chose the cost of living outside the rules /1
Trump: "Russia fought with us in WWII and everybody hates them. And Germany and Japan, they're fine — some day somebody will explain that...Everybody hates Russia and they love Germany and Japan...It's a strange world."

For a small part of my life, I saw this building every day.

It's just a building. But tied up with precious memories.

It pains me to see the senseless destruction. It makes me hate Russia. Hate Russians. And then hate that I feel hate.

For weeks, maybe months, I've wondered what bug in Google Mail makes it keep offering me help to write in Polish. 🇵🇱 Turns out that no, it's actually offering to polish 💅 up my email!

One of the biggest errors made the last 100 years was to assume the Cold War was over when the USSR was dissolved. The Cold War was never with the USSR, it was always with Russia. The same Russia that has been a threat to peace and prosperity in Europe for 500 years.

Ukraine is Europe!
We stand by Ukraine.

We will step up our support to Ukraine so that they can continue to fight back the agressor.

Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.

Even knowing the current US administration is utterly disgusting doesn't provide any protection against feeling disgusted by it time and time again.

I think there will not be a deal. Not after this horrible display of a total lack of respect, diplomacy, rationality, by Trump and Vance. They have insulted Zelenskyy in a horrible way. Bah. Despicable behaviour by Trump and Vance.

If you think that Europe is doomed, you’re not paying attention.

Wrote a recap of the latest developments and call me a hopeless Europtimist but I think Europe+ (including Canada) isn’t doing too bad in terms of offering Ukraine an actual perspective for the future. With or without the US.
Is Trump Making Europe Great Again?
In a world of zero-sum thinking, the EU's win-win logic can be a powerful tool.

I want to tell you a story. In 2015, I was in the small Lithuanian city of Panevežys, standing with the locals, watching a military parade. But this was no ordinary parade, because marching alongside the Lithuanian troops were our American allies.🧵1/17

My thoughts on the Russian-American talks on Ukraine, without Ukraine. The simplest interpretation of the available facts is that the Americans are using Russian violence to try to exploit Ukraine.

Homeward bound after dropping by Bratislava to finally see an Oh Hiroshima concert (and TÖRZS as a real bonus too!) followed by enjoying the Christmas atmosphere and, of course, some schnitzel in Wien.

Well, sounds like high time to boot Hungary out of the EU then. Would be a good show of strength. Orban should love it.
"The world is facing radical changes, the liberal world order is over, and only those countries that make the most of their strengths will be able to emerge victorious in times of change, while those who are unable to show their own values will quickly lose their importance."
