I don't know man, but I think you're doing great. Shit is really tough right now on so many fronts. I'm not saying it'll get easier or better anytime soon. I have no idea. But being creative, writing, drawing, whatever, is no small thing. And taking joy in those things is never a waste of time.

It made me physically ill following updates from the Supreme Court today. Sending love to trans people, trans kids especially, and their families because… whew. Enduring this kind of hostility is an experience us cisgender will never fully understand.

Genuinely think anyone can “git gud” at any creative craft they are interested in. If we wanted to actually “democratize” art we would invest in housing, healthcare, food and education as human rights. All GenAI does is make people even more financially precarious and less able to pursue a passion
I think a bit of the "AI is democratizing art" argument is trying to avoid the ugly truth that to get good at anything you have to do a lot of it. I grew up "knowing" I was a good writer, but I really wasn't until about 700k words, and it took reading hours of scripts to really have a voice

If you think someone should 'write a book without politics' what you really mean is: write a book that has the politics in it that I approve of, so I will not recognise them as politics. Same goes for morals, or values, or religion.

Forcing so many of us to agree with Joe Rogan is only one of Vance’s crimes, but it’s one of the most annoying.
