Here's a zero-cost proposal for ERC to lure US talent: condition participation in a Synergy grant to a relocation to the EU. Will help the incoming PI not only with money but also a supporting collaboration. Right now SyG is funding US labs while NIH has cut all funding to foreign collaborators.

Indeed, the bibliographic metrics are reaching ridiculous levels. We all should focus on doing good science, rather than getting high numbers in metrics.
