Wow… used to be Christmas that overstayed its welcome. Now these year end lists are getting earlier and earlier.

See also the Puskas Award nominations. There’s still a month and a half of the year to go - the busiest period of the year for professional football.

And the UK national broadcaster too of course, but I expect that preening doormat sycophancy from them

Do you remember the race when Rudy Guiliani became NYC mayor? Did you even know he was in situ on Sept 11 2001?

No! Because we weren’t being drip-fed every syllable uttered by a US official

Why the fuck is a regional election result from a continent 3000 miles away the lead story on the Irish national broadcaster? Could the anglophone media stop fetishising that shit hole empire for five fucking minutes please

The BBC puts a big BREAKING NEWS banner across their news website just in time for the afternoon commuter rush… to tell a whole load of nothing

If there’s pertinent new information give it to us, instead of exchanging lexicographical winks and nudges

Top sensationalism though

BBC and ITV websites seem to be down, on the morning of election results.
M&S, Co-Op and Harrod’s all confirming they’ve been cyber attacked within the last 24 hours.
Spain & Portugal hit with mysterious nationwide blackouts.

We are living in a war. We should probably wake up to the fact.

I now have two Ticketmaster apps on my phone, one of which is currently instructing users to download the new one.

Apple Music can’t handle the phrase ‘chocholate starfish’. It means asshole: as in the rectum.

I wouldn’t have known or cared about that, even I was a 14-year old, until it was pointed out that it was a bad thing to say.

For comparison, Ireland's national broadcaster, which is also also largely license fee-funded (they have advertising and sponsorships), has all but one of their main stories about Ireland.
February 20, 2025 at 9:12 PM
The front page of the UK's national broadcaster, which we are forced to pay for or face a custodial sentence, has two UK-based stories in it's main headlines. They are both showbiz.

My ISP forced me to switch wifi router from their previous partner Nokia (which I was happy with - as in I had no cause to complain) to a new partner Eero, by Amazon, which I didn't like because it's Amazon.
This is what I get when I enter the gateway address into a browser. 😡

The unrelentingly sneering attitude from London media towards #Wetherspoons is indicative of their overt hostility towards people not on six figure salaries. Look at these achievements and ask why the Guardian, BBC etc don’t highlight this unequivocal success story of British enterprise
