A huge honour to help carry the Taiko Dai at the autumn festivals in Sangawa and Mishima. Unusual for foreigners to carry these, had to be vouched for in order to wear a hoppi and shoulder it. Extremely hard work but so much fun. A properly unique experience to carry these gods to their shrines.

On Saturday we closed OUR BROTHER after a really brilliant run. Thanks to everyone who came to support us, we've had a tremendous response and hopefully it won't be the last time. Don't be a Stranger.

Loosely inspired by the true story of the Scottish academic Malcolm Caldwell and his fateful trip to Cambodia at the invitation of the Khmer Rouge. OUR BROTHER is an intense political drama about the price of utopia and the language of denial.

Remembering a recent stay in Thurso when I popped down to the Dounreay office and saw they had kids doing drawings of the evil boston dynamics robots they have given the name "spot" a lovely bit of dystopia

Spent a few days in the room earlier this week developing and rehearsing my new play Our Brother. The team around me are amazing. It's such an honour and a privilege to make new plays. We're on at Oran Mor w/b 8th September and Traverse from the 16th - 20th as part of @playpiepint.bsky.social

It was a super productive, positive experience. Our sharing went so well. This script has been with me for a long time and this R&D has made it feel like it's all possible. It's all really exciting.

Supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland. In partnership with Eden Court Highland

Simply the most amazing week in Inverness up at Eden Court Theatre developing Graft [A NC500 Play]. Me and this incredible core team worked to make action, resilience, and hope - and we made it happen in the north of Scotland. Now to look ahead to the next steps...

Next week I will be developing Graft [A North Coast 500 Play] at Eden Court Theatre for a whole week. This piece began with a project at Inverness Prison, and was platformed at Summerhall Surgeries, @trontheatre.bsky.social Outside Eyes, and Feis Ros Highland art collective "We Have Questions" ... 👁️

Huge bit of news. Taking part in BBC Writers Scotland has been such a big step forward for my TV writing. I'm really excited for the next bit... hopefully getting my pilots developed into something real!

Quick aside on 28 Weeks, the lack of political nuance hurts these films. Why was Idris Elba, the NATO commander in Weeks, an American? Surely the liberation/resettlement of Britain would British led, if only symbolically with the bulk being American forces? Compare / contrast with Major West in Days

While I enjoyed 28 Years Later they really missed a trick with Ireland. First of all - definitely not a part of Britain so the fact it's unconditionally quarantined is a pretty bad oversight. Second, having the British govt function in Northern Ireland in a sort of exile would be really interesting
