Pretending to be an adult
What he calls the Valley of Death I would call the poverty trap - Iain Duncan Smith in the UK spent years discussing the problems with clawing back benefits before ignoring himself once he became a minister.

Good to see it get a wider audience, I guess.

The Times article on it seems pretty reasonable? It says in the article that turkey has only been more common than goose at Christmas since the 1950s.

I don't understand the position that a gas pipeline isn't a military target.

It was a potential revenue source for the government and it wasn't operating - attacking it before it came online was possibly the only time it was a valid target before it veered into war crimes territory.

Um, USAID cuts were in Project 2025 and got discussed by think tanks over a year ago.

I think we hit "oh god there are too many cases" in 2024, so that figure undercounts the likely number of cases by getting on 10,000 because we didn't have the capacity to confirm each and every one.

So the UK example is, somehow, even worse than it looks. 😅

These need replacing with some with newer, quieter motors, but they're apparently not that uncommon in Victorian houses here where the max temperature ever recorded is 28.9C/84F.

When the ever present wind drops on a hot day I imagine they're a godsend.

You can usually find a Manx flag in the crowd at any music festival in the UK. Unfortunately, waving one usually requires explaining that, no, it's not a Nazi flag.

It's a hard life being a cat. Knocking my clean washing all over the floor really took it out of him.

Did they have NSO + Expansion Pass? It's supposed to be included in that.

Nearly finished with the re-read before starting book two. 😄

The millimetre or so difference in size is baffling, but hopefully there's a fancy hardback edition from @thebrokenbinding.bsky.social to look forward to... ? 😄

I genuinely never thought I'd consider voting for a Tory given, well, the last fifty years.

I knew Labour would be a disappointment in government, I just didn't realise "respect basic rights" was a bar too high for them to clear.

If you go out to the top 20 you also add in the bounce after Black Monday (1987), so partying requires some very short term thinking.

@jaythenerdkid.bsky.social this is the closest I'm ever getting to an Amateur Transplants gig.

The reporting seems to suggest Trump removed 11 of the board members, but how? I can't imagine he followed the process laid down in statute, so does anyone know under what authority they were removed?

Oh shit. She was kicking off about fans saying she looked sick last year.

Loved her work, I'm really sad she's gone.

They haven't done anything else competently, so maybe Bobby Tables or EICAR is worth a shot?
