I just finished reviewing an otherwise excellent paper that dropped the wish-wash "these results can help inform policy" when the results explicitly and dramatically challenge the prevailing management policy and just, like, c'mon friends, you can say "X data means Y policy doesn't work".

I'm currently getting my PhD in Fire and Emergency Management. All PhDs, regardless of field, are excluded. This is more than just "professional degrees". This is gatekeeping who is allowed to pursue advanced education at all.
