If the FT story is correct and they're walking back from Income Tax rises then I genuinely give up.
Every government of my adult life has been a cowardly shuffle of dishonesty on taxes, spending, and immigration, hurtling towards ever worse outcomes and praying something turns up.

This is one of those things that’s technically true if you accept that it was Starmer briefing against Streeting to try and shore up his own leadership.

If you had to guess at the time which one of Mike Pence and Tim Kaine would be voting for Trump's economic policy a decade down the line from when they were both running for VP, you would not guess right.

If the BBC reach a compensation settlement with Trump in order to protect their US cable market ambitions I doubt I will be alone in cancelling my licence fee. I am absolutely not having a penny of my money going to Trump.

The BBC did not create the impression that Trump orchestrated January 6th.
Trump himself created that impression, through his speeches on the day and in advance.
He was indicted by Congress for it and only escaped a criminal trial by... becoming president again.

Given that this is an issue the US government has with the British state broadcaster it would be useful if there was a British Ambassador to the US at the moment, a position that the government has chosen to leave vacant for TWO MONTHS now.
