I know hundreds of Yiddish phrases and words and expressions, because I grew up reading science fiction in the 2nd half of the 20th century. 🤷‍♂️science fiction was written by immigrants and the children of immigrants, and that diversity is part of what made it so compelling.

As an American, "Gray" is strictly a color name created by Crayola for their products in my vocabulary. "Grey" is the spelling I default to in my writing, but that may be because I read so much SFF already.
