They had lawyers, trials, most were given pretrial release, allowed to testify in their own defense, got discovery, could call witnesses, could cross-examine witnesses, could present mitigation at sentencing, and had a right to appeal.

Here's the thing - the economy can bounce back, and most of the losses were just value, not actual dollars in someone's pocket. The people they sent to El Salvador could end up dead, and certainly are already traumatized, and you can't fix that with a executive order.
1. Don't buy any efforts to sanewash Scott Bessent.
2. The tariffs are indefensibly stupid, but disappearing random people into El Salvador's gulags is WAY worse.
3. If you ever defended decent people abandoning migrants because of polling numbers, you just (deleted) and we will remember you.
