Weren’t you guys on Accelbyte? Just not a good experience?

They know the vast majority of Unity devs won't actually move on, because their studio, pipelines, staff, etc are entrenched in the Unity Ecosystem. People will complain on the internet, they may backpedal a little, but in the end nothing will really change, and we'll be doing this again in a year.

I found that talking about it really did help though; more than I expected. I’m here if you ever need it. An old coworker of mine had sent me a message when he heard the news, and I honestly found it helpful:

To be honest with you, even after a month it’s still hard. I’m at a point where 90% of the time I can look back at those memories and just be happy - where I can see a picture of him and not lose it; but every now and then I see one that just completely triggers me and reminds me how much I miss him

We actually did the same thing, because we wanted to make sure we never forgot anything. It also made me realize how weirdly lucky we are that cell phone cameras actually became “a thing” - we have so many pictures and videos all through their lives that allow us to preserve those memories.

I'm sorry, Ashley. We lost one of ours (14) to cancer a month ago, and our other (12, Chiweenie) was diagnosed with liver cancer that's already metastasized a couple weeks after :(

It's so incredibly tough and painful. I try to focus on all the amazing memories, but healing is definitely a process
