The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

I would! I meant to say a little more about it, but I was interrupted mid text. It manages to be fairly plain in its presentation, yet mysterious in its effects, although there is nothing tricky about it.
I haven’t usually read the Booker Prize-winning novel before the announcement, but this year I have.

Welcome to The Resistance New York Post
Welcome to “justice” in Donald Trump’s America.

Trump: "We have officially renamed the Dept of Defense back to the original name, Dept of War. And remember we won World War 1, we won World War 2, we won everything in between. We won everything that came before. And then we brilliantly decided to change the name. We became politically correct"

Personally, I will be trying to avoid the notice of Joyce Carol Oates and Kendrick Lamar for the rest of my natural life

Roman Catholic bishops in the U.S. chose new leaders on Tuesday. The new president is an archbishop from Oklahoma City who issued a statement two days after President Trump’s inauguration calling on Catholics to remember that Jesus was once a refugee, and to support immigrant families.

“We face a growing worldview that is so often at odds with the Gospel mandate to love thy neighbor,” the group said in a letter to Pope Leo.

Still thinking about this story. Imagine how cooked your brain has to be on Fox News -- how terrified you have to be, every day in your isolated suburban castle -- to start *shooting* when you see brown people at your door, before the door is even open. We're such a nation of terrified cowards.

This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Rick Scott was CEO of a large, for-profit healthcare company called HCA. While Rick Scott was CEO, HCA stole so much money from Medicare they were fined $1.7 Billion.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…
Intent, perhaps? They are not trying to move the listener to the same place.

History is “inspired by” a true story
Sitting here in Northeast Ohio, trying to figure out the motivations of these two pitchers. The risk was much higher than the financial reward, so I wonder if it was just the thrill of the scam. Or if they thought long-term, it would actually make them even richer?
