Boss Battles are overrated.

Do you know HOW LONG it took us to defeat the Big Boss in Burning Shores? On EASY mode? Ugh.

It wasn't even interesting, needed stupidly precise timing: shoot the drones, jump *just* when the electrical attack comes, shoot the power thingies. Lather, rinse, repeat. 🙄

A """funny""" thing I've noticed is that if you see a buckwild and totally made up claim on Reddit and then search that claim on Google, trying to source it, the Gemini AI summary will be like "oh, yeah, that totally happened, and my source is that three hour old Reddit thread you were just reading"

I didn't even know about these settings -- they're all on by default.

Jebus.
Guys, do not use the Discord Checkpoint thing (Discord's attempt at Spotify Wrapped).

It requires enabling them access to scrape your data, and has an alarming amount of private data being used for it.

Make sure you have these disabled.

THIS for 'most everything except music videos & audio books, with the caveat that I listen to audio books in places/at times that I can't read (walking/driving/housework).

I DO NOT WANT TO WATCH YOUR 50-MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO OF YOUR LIVESTREAM PLAY-THROUGH. JUST TELL ME WHERE THE SECRET DOOR IS!
I saw a meme last night about a generational divide marker of folks who cannot sit through videos and want the words typed out because they read faster than they can watch a video and I felt that deep in my heart. I'm happy for folks who love video, but I hate them. Give me text. Let me read.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Would I be interested in answering more of their questions on the subject? Mate, I would be *delighted*.

Last week in our student reading group we read the portion of Wealth of Nations in which Smith comments on the way generally unedifying ways that young men spend their gap year/ study abroad/ grand tour time.

Weird shift at WQRC. We're supposed to have 2 people on every shift, but my former shift mate had to quit, & apparently no one has replaced them. I had 2 people come & chat, at least. BUT, no one showed up for the next shift! So I had to close up & go.

No one showed to Knit Night, either. 🙁
