What could NBA ultimately do with the new league it's building in Europe?

Adam Silver: "We have something we call the NBA Cup... You could imagine teams in Europe, potentially Africa, competing in that tournament. You possibly could see teams coming into our playoffs, top seeds from other leagues."

The leap from USL2 to pro is MASSIVE from an economics standpoint with American soccer as currently constructed. If Vermont Green/Annapolis Blues/Ballard FC/etc. had a regional pro path it could be a big step towards pro/rel.
This is a great story, and Vermont is a great argument for promotion/relegation in US soccer
One of my favourite articles to write, on a club I've wanted to write about for some time. A look at @vermontgreenfc.bsky.social ahead of their USL League Two final against Ballard FC. How a 'division four' club became the soccer team of the moment. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

We need a map guy to lay this out. Could be close to regional play/divisions soon

Interesting that link says USL-C, based on what I hear I think it's much more likely to be the new D1 thing.

There is more prize money than winning MLS Cup, a Concacaf Champions Cup spot, and it will only take seven games to do it.

I will never understand those who don’t treat this tournament seriously.

Long live the Open Cup!

FC Cincinnati spent more than $30 million this offseason. The problem: they could only spend it on a few spots.

3-1 Tigres. Another MLS team out of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

More evidence piled up that *how* MLS teams spend needs to change.

Been obvious for a while now. Will MLS do something?

1. I think this is a merger play along with announcing Expansion possibilities in LA, Dallas and Atlanta.
2. Someone needs to press US Soccer and/or USL on if changes to PLS are on radar (Does Switchbacks Ownership change hint at some things).

They are almost definitely moving then.

I am personally much less of an nfl fan because of the 95 Browns move and we got a team back.

Teams that move (and fold) are much less likely to get fans to come back.
The Vancouver Whitecaps are still on track to be sold after hiring Goldman Sachs.

Bankers and rival club executives think the franchise would command a premium price if they are relocated.

But the current intent of the team and league officials is to keep the club in Vancouver, sources said.
