Look, not to give the Evangelicals any ideas, but if their Hashtag-Christian-Movies were more like Wake Up Dead Man and less like God's Not Dead 8 or whatever, they might actually be successful at proselytizing instead of just preaching to the superiority and persecution complexes of the Choir.

The billionaires who own much of the the infrastructure of our 21st century lives have progressively enshittified that infrastructure while expanding their wealth, and then they scold us for being small-souled peasants who don’t believe in progress anymore.
it is amazing how so much tech gets unremittingly worse year on year at whatever you once used it for and less pleasant to use and more bound up with creepy politics as well as personal and environmental harms and yet also still less productive of actual goods and these are somehow great visionaries

Leaving off The Kinks is unforgivable. You don't have any of the punk/punk-inflected bands on this list without them.

Look, you can't always control how people pronounce your name, and there's lots of perfectly legitimate reasons not to want to change away from a potentially-embarrassing-but-personally-meaningful family name. But nobody and nothing on this Earth is forcing you to include your middle initial.

Totally unprompted announcement from the White House Press Office: "The President's blood sugar level is absolutely optimal, it barely rises to 116 even after a meal. The President has an A1C of 4.6 and can process even high-glycemic foods without difficulty. Any claim to the contrary is libel."

This is bait... so allow me to take it:
This take is the kind of thing one would expect from a 7 year old who hates anything sour or seasoned with flavors more complex than "sugar, sugar, and more sugar." Pecan pie is fine, but it's basically "sugar goop with a topping of the least-flavorful nut."
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

You can never ever leave
Without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change, the less you feel

Is... is that a good omen?
“You may not believe me, but I just had a bald eagle drop a cat through my windshield,” the incredulous driver said on the recorded 911 call. “It absolutely shattered my windshield.”

The dispatcher calmly responded, “OK. I do believe you, honestly,” then laughed.

This is tempting to believe because, if true, it's genuinely *apocalyptic* for Republicans. But I wouldn't make any plans for 2026, much less 2028, based on these numbers holding.

🔵 Democrats: 50%
🔴 Republicans: 46%

You ever see two rats on the subway tracks fighting over an empty potato chip bag? Anyway,
Long-simmering tensions between President Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz are boiling over, with White House allies convinced that the Texas Republican is aiming to boost his 2028 presidential prospects at the expense of VP Vance.
An early 2028 fight erupts as the White House stews over Sen. Ted Cruz
President Donald Trump's aides and allies are irritated with Cruz and accusing him of running a counter-agenda designed to challenge Vice President JD Vance for the GOP nomination.

This kind of response to yesterday's Southern Polarization discourse has been predictably making the rounds today, and it completely misses the point of what people were saying. Nobody's arguing that only Southern whites are racist, or that racism only exists in the South, or anything like that.

Of course Summers only apologizes for (or even acknowledges) his "communications" with Epstein. Nothing about his actual, real-life behavior towards an econ colleague and former Harvard student. I know firing a professor of his stature/tenure is difficult, but doing the right thing often is.

Malpractice here by Schumer and the Dems. Make them vote on it. Also, I know I'm not the only one thinking this, but what % of the full Epstein file do we think the Trump DOJ actually releases? Given all of Trump's stonewalling, if there's nothing damning in there about him we know it's cooked.
Senate Republicans were so eager to dispense with the Epstein measure that they agreed with Schumer to declare it passed by unanimous consent--even though it has not formally been sent over by the House yet. It may land on Trump's desk tonight.

It's worth noting that Rachael the Hobbit's proposal here is not leftist or left-anarchist or progressive or anything in that vein. It's a far-right, extremist position that not only promotes the complete atomization of society but also fully embraces the fascist mantra of might-makes-right.
I guess if this is what abolishing the carceral state looks like, I'm not really sure what the difference is between doing that and making every single living soul into a one-person carceral state.

Something that just occurred to me: now that almost nobody has a landline phone, and your cell number isn't always the same area code as where you live, depending on your provider, are kids going forward going to associate with their town/city's area code the way we did in the Ludacris era?
