there’s like this break in the whole experience itself, where you have to stop playing a game to purchase more of it, which you may be fine with but it never feels quite right to do no matter how easy it is to justify

i have been saying this for a long time tbh, but i think it’s just a symptom of the way video games are commodified
like we don’t even call it DLC when there’s no price tag attached. so the existence of DLC only ever seems like a gross reminder of how capital is holding everything we love hostage
