This ring fence around the American economy is a good start to erasing our unsustainable trade deficits. I’m eager to work with the president to fix the broken "free trade" system that made multinational corporations rich but ruined manufacturing communities across the country. But tariffs must be paired with policies that prioritize American families’ prosperity. We need to make sure that the new approach benefits working people — that means supporting unions, the trades and apprenticeship programs, cutting regulations that hold back production, unleashing American energy and using tariff revenue to support domestic manufacturers that create good-paying jobs for Americans. It’s also time to renegotiate trade deals like the USMCA to support the Americans who are ready to ramp up production and support the rebuilding of our middle class — like the sawmills, processing plants, fishermen and farmers in the communities I represent. Tariffs are a first step in rewriting a rigged trade system, but they cannot be the last one. Jared Golden is right on this in the sense that electing him means having an alleged Democrat giving Trump’s antidemocratic agenda a bipartisan veneer. He voted for the NDAA and supports tariffs too.

I won’t be fooled by this Trump Democrat again.

I’d be willing to consider giving these reporters the benefit of the doubt, but the American public’s outright majority opposition to many Trump policies gets buried under these pluralities every time. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence!
A poll question gauging support for new tariffs on imported goods. 46% of the total same favors new tariffs with 54% opposed. Among Trump voters specifically, 82% support with 18% opposed. A poll question asking what Trump’s policy on DEI programs should be. 39% of the total sample thinks we should start or expand DEI programs, 34% think we should end or decrease them, and 27% think there should be no change. Among Trump voters specifically, 17% think we should start or expand DEI programs, 64 think we should end or decrease them, and 18% think there should be no change. A poll question gauging support for Trump buying Greenland. 39% of the total sample approves, while 61% disapproves. Among Trump voters specifically, 68% approve and 32% disapprove.

A poll asking for views of the economy now and expectations for 2025. 38% say the economy is good now versus 56% who say it’s bad. 52% expect the economy to be good in 2025 versus 31% who expect it to be bad. A poll question asking how people expect Trump’s policies to affect them financially. 42% of the total sample think they’ll be better off, but 30% think things will stay the same and 28% think they’ll be worse off. For Trump voters specifically, 77% expect to be better off, 20% expect to stay the same, and 3% expect to be worse off.

Democrat politicians’ refusal to engage in the public fight for trans rights has allowed conservatives to annihilate public support for sports participation and access to gender affirming care across the board.
It shows two poll questions. One question asks whether they support “trans female athletes” playing in women’s sports. 31% of Democrats support and 67% oppose. 10% of Independents support and 64% oppose. The other question asks about support for puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender minors. 19% of Democrats believe minors aged 10-18 should have access, 24% believe only minors 15-18 should have access, and 54% believe no minors under age 18 should have access. 2% of Independents believe minors aged 10-18 should have access, 10% believe only minors 15-18 should have access, and 61% believe no minors under age 18 should have access.

“A little more than half of the country” supports deporting “everyone living in the U.S.” statement is more than a little misleading: A plurality of Independents and a majority of Democrats are opposed.

Republicans are just more united on this than their opposition is.
It is a quote from a New York Times article. It says “A little more than half of the country expresses some desire to see Mr. Trump follow through with his harshest threat to deal with illegal immigration: deporting everyone living in the United States without authorization.” A screenshot of the Times/Ipsos survey. It shows that 83% of Republicans support deporting all unauthorized immigrants with 17% opposed, 33% of Democrats support it with 67% opposed, and 32% of Independents support it with 33% opposed.
