Hey folks, I'm Jordan, I live in Rochester with my beautiful girlfriend and my troublemaking dog. Leftist, Catholic, works in retail for not enough money, proud to co chair at Rochester WFP and to serve on the NYWFP State Committee. Cheers

Politically suicidal, unserious and generally lazy. Especially because the next few years (as the backlash against Trump begins, while the end of this papacy looms nearer) will prob be the best chance leftists have had in a very long time to make inroads with US Catholics

I'm not sure why exactly reporters should be struggling with this; I've never spent a day in law school and I'm absolutely certain that anything coming out the mouth of a GOP legal goon is not to be trusted for one God damn minute (and I'm right)
reporters are going to struggle with this stuff. Everyone will. If lawyers are saying stuff about the Constitution, it might seem reasonable to assume that there’s something to be said for every side.

This won’t be a reasonable assumption to make about Trump’s DOJ.

The point being, of course, that there is literally nobody in America willing to take a job as Trump's attorney general who is worthy of being Attorney General (or even really just an Attorney)
The TikTok EO orders the Attorney General "to issue a letter to each provider stating that there has been no violation of the statute and that there is no liability for any conduct that occurred" in the 75-day window.

Anyone worthy of being AG would resign before carrying out such a lawless order.

It's almost nauseating watching the party in DC right now. But the good news is that Trump and his party are so cartoonishly evil that the more they take, the angrier America will become; and once groups like the WFP @workingfamilies.org organize & channel that anger, project 2025 is totally screwed

I've decided i'm definitely just not willing to do the work to rack up a bunch of followers on here, for my personal account at least (it would for starters require devoting way more time than I want to social media) 15 is enough for me lol

Everybody do the bus stop! And by that we mean that It's a great time to get on board with @nywfp.bsky.social 's fight for greater investment in public transportation (though you are free to do the dance as well)

Alright maybe I'll actually start using this app more. I've been off socmedia for a minute in general (and then vacillating between Twitter and here in the rare moments I AM online) but BlueSky still appears to be continuing to grow at a decent clip

Even in the best of circumstances home care workers have one of the hardest jobs there is, and manageable caseloads are essential. Support Rochester's home care workers and @1199seiu.org as they fight for a fair contract!

Because we're a metropolitan chapter of the @nywfp.bsky.social our people work mostly in local+state politics. However the name Eritrea is not unfamiliar to us. Rochester is one of a small number of US cities with a sizeable community of Eritrean refugees who fled Afwerki's totalitarian regime
Exclusive: Eritrea’s embassy has helped raise millions of dollars to promote the interests of the brutally repressive country.

Its ruling party is under U.S. sanctions.

I just got this account, primarily out of curiosity more than anything; if nothing else, BlueSky serves as an excellent reminder of how badly Elon Musk had to screw up to ruin the successful formula that Twitter had nearly perfected when he swooped in like a vulture and bought it a few years ago
