Whomp whomp. Well that’s me done for the night. May as well go to bed. But first I need to make sure we don’t have any light switches turned on anywhere.
Kaikohe substation – 9.20 update Evening all Sorry for the delay in updating you – we needed to make sure the livening would hold. Our investigations show half of the 33kV switchboard is damaged and cannot be returned to service tonight. The switchboard is approximately 10 years old. We’ve successfully livened the undamaged half and will now restore power progressively over the next 2–3 hours, subject to final safety checks. Please note, with part of the switchboard out, capacity is reduced as we are on only our smallest transformer at Kaikohe, we can’t guarantee full security of supply until repairs are completed. We ask that you please conserve power use until we have completed repairs. In the meantime we will be running diesel generation at Omania to support the customers in the southern network. While tonight’s outage affected a similar area to last Friday’s tree strike on the 33kV line to Mount Pokaka, it is extremely unlikely the two events are related. Thanks for your patience while we investigate and respond to this major event. We’ll keep you updated as restoration progresses.

The majority of the world uses an octagon for their Stop signs. Japan uses a triangle (same colours though), and Bhutan is a hexagon.
