A bit overshadowed by the rest of the rambling, but my favorite part is when he said "I did not know I'd be standing here right now."

My first thought was the same as many others, that he was ridiculous for saying that based on her history. But there may be a positive (if unintentional) aspect to him doing this: By stroking their egos & praising them for doing SOMEthing semi-good, it may encourage her & others to keep speaking out
