don't think it's remotely true that baseball is the only sport where this is happening, we've seen lots of changes across a number of sports that are basically reactions to stuff like this over time
One of my readers observed that baseball is the only sport where the enjoyment of the game decreases as the athleticism of the players increases. I don't know if I totally agree, but it's striking that so much of what we don't care for in the game these days is a function of guys being too good.
This is a good dive into something we've been talking about for a while and which many people refuse to admit:

fielders are too good, low BA is not just hitters wanting launch angle or whatever

More hits? Make it harder on fielders.

It’s really the opposite, if you only get one side of the history (and many of us do) it is completely shocking to realize much of what you “know” isn’t true or isn’t the whole story, and many young jews feel a sense of betrayal over that bsky.app/profile/prem...
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

We stacked up Joe Davis', Ben Shulman's, Dan Shulman's, and Boog Sciambi's key Game 7 calls to see what we could learn (plus Stephen Nelson/Dave Flemming). How Joe laid the groundwork for his Will Smith call, and more.

I've been asked so many times, "What happens when you swear on air?"
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

I met Will Siskel at the ballpark years ago - he told me his name, and I promptly told him that I had great respect for his dad.

(I had misheard him and thought he was related to prospect writer John Sickels. When we got on the same page, I promptly told him that I had great respect for his dad.)
50 years ago this week, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert made the first pilot for their TV show. In honor of this huge anniversary, I created my definitive “Best of Siskel & Ebert” article - 50 of their best reviews from across their entire career. 👍🏻👍🏻

Consider me skeptical of "All-Star Week" when there will be MLB and MiLB games ongoing throughout Saturday and Sunday, July 11-12.

July 13-15 (and July 16 with the exception of one MLB game) see the whole sport shut down.

Stop scheduling "big" MLB things while regular season games are ongoing

Mo'ne Davis spent years telling people that she was done playing baseball. She did not want to be forever defined by what she did as a 13-year-old in Little League, a decade ago, and she did not feel like there was space for her to do much else. And then she felt differently. On Davis and the WPBL:
