One of my "profs" in college, more than 40 years ago, said something that's always stuck with me: "In a working democracy, no one is ever happy for very long." Although I will say that this isn't really a working democracy anymore, with one ugly party in control of everything.

People who agreed with Bunker but liked that show was an indication of how stupid conservatives would become. That theme song still pops into my head sometimes, just as something to whistle or sing.

It was very telling (even to a, whatever I was, 10 year old kid), that some adults didn't understand that Bunker was a subject of mockery. A dinosaur. Mocking his stupid views & ignorance was the whole show, although he was mostly portrayed sympathetically.

& that's just plain evil. So many people enjoying being evil this year, & may it come back to bite them all.
