the arts cultural market is currently dependent on either highly visible performance or invisible unpaid labor with almost zero in-between. be a star or be exploited - and even those handful of off-camera artists still largely command Cult of Personality
our society is becoming incredibly hostile to creative types who are extremely uncomfortable on camera
I just saw an *art residency* where they're looking for artists who are "early career, comfortable on camera"

I left the house to have a beer away from all the usual stuff in my life just to end up sitting next to some dudes talking about keyboards and learning classic rock synthesizer solos note for note and Leslie cabinets and oh no now it's brass instruments why can't I have peace
